Actually, Kristen, I’m hours too late. The snarlers have been snarling all morning. But, chump that I am, I thought I’d go ahead and wait until I heard him make his comment …. Once he did, I felt I had some catching up to do.
Did you think he was going to say:
“Bout time those folks recognized the work I’m always saying I’m going to get to eventually.”
If he doesn’t deserve it, and he knows he doesn’t deserve it, and he SAYS he doesn’t deserve it . . . wouldn’t the right move be to turn it down?
It would be the PR move of the Century if he did, that’s for sure. It would shut up the snarlers, make him look more like Jesus than ever, and when he accepted the award four years from now after he actually did something, it would be so sweet.

Steve, Steve, Steve. I agree. It would be even MORE meaningful if he’d turned down the award, or pulled a Brando and sent a proxy up to the podium to say how unfair the Nobel Committee is to real peacemakers.
The thing that comes to mind, though, is the corollary, which would be if the previous administration won. It would be crowing about how it deserved the recognition all along and how winning the prize put the lie to its critics.
I agree it’s too early to award Obama the prize if it’s awarded for his accomplishments. But it’s never to early to recognize someone who’s pushing the world in the right direction. Maybe next year’s award will go to someone who Obama inspired to accomplish something more concrete than simply giving people hope.
Geez, David – over-react much????
Hahahahahaha!

So isn’t this sort of like saying I ought to win “The Biggest Loser” for announcing that I plan to diet and work out?
Ha! If that were the case I would be a LOT skinnier than I am today.
