Made by the Polish-immigrant Chicago artist Jerzy Kenar, apparently in whimsi-grouchy protest of yuppies leaving their dogs’ pooh outside his studio.
Installed on a leafy street in my neighborhood in 2005. My daughter Scout and her friends encountered it at about age 6, on their daily walks to afterschool.
“I thought it was the funniest thing I’d ever seen,” says Scout, who has chosen, after college, to start her life here.
Because, honestly, and all due respect: Where else?
