Writer wonders, again: What’s it like not to be a writer?

For instance, as happened to me this morning: You're driving home from dropping your first-grader off at school, you're feeling a little wistful, and through the open sunroof and onto the empty passenger's seat falls a yellow leaf.

What does someone who isn't a writer do with that? (he asks his audience, of writers).
