So heavyweight boxer David Haye predicted his upcoming title fight will be as "one-sided as a gang rape."
He then refused to apologize to women's groups (who apparently follow the fight game waiting for boxers to say insensitive things).
"If I apologized for every stupid/ignorant thing i said," Haye tweeted, "I wouldn't have time for anything else during the day!"
That defense certainly exists for some — see, e.g. Howard Stern or Chales Barkley or Anne Coulter — but Haye’s stupidity isn’t notorious enough to assert it successfully.
The issue of when and to whom one should apologize is an interesting debate. I only wish that the idiotic statement in question did not contain the word rape. I have learned to avoid this subject like the plague. It is impossible to say anything about the matter without getting yourself into trouble.
Mr. Green, you write like a sadder and wiser girl.
“A sadder and wiser girl” What do you mean? Was that a compliment or an insult?
Just an expression (orig. The Music Man) about someone who has learned the hard way.
