It reminds me of a story George Plimpton tells in the introduction to an edition of his famous book, Paper Lion.
Many years after the original publication, Plimpton was sitting on an airplane on some godforsaken airfield in Texas next to a young man who somehow ascertained who Plimpton was. The kid declared excitedly that he had read Paper Lion and loved it; and he added that, in fact, Paper Lion was the only book he had ever read.
Do you think you'll ever read another book? Plimpton asked.
"I don't know," the young man replied. "You written anything else?"
