Our neighborhood dentistry, East Village Dental Care, sends us a letter saying that because of the economic crisis they're not raising their fees.
Instead, "we have turned them back to 2006 prices!"
O, 2006—the salad days!
On communication, professional and otherwise.
I was so encouraged by this story froma friend last night…he’s newly married, a new dad, 22 years old. He’s currently working one week on one week off. He had to get a root canal which would cost him $700 out of pocket after the insurance was paid. The dentist got in, drilled the tooth and realized that they would go a different direction than a root canal after all AND REFUSED TO CHARGE HIM A DIME FOR THE HOUR-LONG PROCEDURE. Encouraging to know that people are giving one another a break during this time. Hurrah for dentists! (Never thought I’d say that.)
Ok storytime:
I’ve had only one filling in my life (it was done at a shady dentist in Texas in my younger years) and one night a piece of that tooth fell off while I was brushing my teeth. I thought it was weird and seeing that I dont have dental insurance, I opted to hold out a couple of weeks until I was going to be visiting Texas and already had a dental appointment set up. Well about a week later I popped in a piece of gum and it pulled my filling out of my damn tooth! And of course it had to happen on a Friday night so Monday morning I called East Village Dental to see if they could squeeze me in that afternoon, which they did. And I chose this office because it is literally across the street from my house and the yelp reviews seemed pretty positive.
