Corporate advertising is crass by nature. But some corporate advertising really outdoes itself.
On behalf of my late adman father, I’ve been a little put off by this commercial about deodorant that you can use “from your pits … to your bits.” Yum.
(But Dad! Do you remember this one, from your heyday in advertising, 1977? What in the name of Pat Boone was this?)
Of course none of the above is as viscerally disturbing as this commercial made by that great savior and celebrator of the human race, Apple. Their marketing comms guy had to apologize. Well, not apologize, but give the corporate equivalent, saying that the company “missed the mark” with this ad, that stunk from its pits to its bits.
