The Heart of Neurosis

On the last exotic trip in a year preposterously full of them—Thailand, Australia, Dominican Republic and Ecuador—I'm leaving tomorrow morning to join Eric Schnure on the unlikeliest ramble of them all.

We're going to Gabarone, Botswana, to preside over the first-ever African speechwriting conference.

Eric and I are both a bundle of nerves, not about what we're teaching, of course—but as usual, about the sorts of things I worried over before this speechwriting tour of Europe, a few years ago. The electrical outlets, for instance …
