Written in an hour at a "Poetry While You Wait," stand, at the "Retro on Roscoe" fair in Chicago's Roscoe Village neighborhood, summer of 2016.

(Hat tip to pal Sharon McIntosh, and her friend Laura, who commissioned the poem, simply asking for something on "Joy.")

Aw! I am so glad this little poem is still doing work in the world. It was a joy to write it:)

I’ve read it at more than 10 retreats and given it framed as gifts. It sits in places of honor at two convents where the sisters delight in it, and travels with me.
Probably one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received. Thank you.
