The Quotable Murr: On fame

05.11.2016 by David Murray // Leave a Comment

Saw yesterday in the Times obits that a "late-blooming actress" died. I think every person is great. It's just that most of us die before our genius is discovered.

And while we're on this subject, I'm reminded of a conversation I had with my daughter as she rode her bike to kindergarten one morning while I ran alongside.

“We’re famous,” she said.

“What do you mean?”

“Well, lots of people see us.”

“Yeah?”

“And we see them.”

“Yeah?”

“So everybody’s famous, sort of. Right?”

Right.
