Friday Happy Hour Video: Hope springs eternal, but rage is so much more memorable

When I was a little boy, my mother quoted me as saying, "My love goes on forever. So does my hate." 

Maybe that's why, as the Chicago Cubs kick off the most hope-filled season in all the 35 years I've rooted for them, I want to remember this 1983 tirade by Lee Elia. It was still April, but the team was off to a bad start and had just been booed off the field after a home loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Elia, a mild-mannered man who would always regret what he said … said:
