Scout: "Dad, what is that?"

Dad: "It's a bourbon and Diet Coke."

Scout: "Why are you drinking that?"

Dad [to avoid saying, "because we're out of vodka"]: "Why not, Scout?"

Scout: "Diet Coke is so bad for you!"

Dad: "There's not much Diet Coke in it."

Scout, looking relieved: "Okay, good."

    Stick to the Real Thing in your bourbon (or drink it straight).
