The problem with all these reality shows

They're bad for curiosity. We think to ourselves: "If anyone was really doing anything interesting in the world, there'd be a reality show about it." And that sucks.

    That’s presuming that the current plague of reality shows contains something interesting.
    I must have missed that one.
    My greatest fear: when tourists come to the U.S., turn on their hotel TVs and see our “reality,” what will they think?
    OTOH, if aliens eager to conquer Earth catch a glimpse of “reality,” will they change their minds? (I can see the headline now: “Reality TV saves humanity”)
    Where’s my Valium?
