“My own child’s self-esteem is too high,” said no one, ever

01.03.2013 by David Murray // 22 Comments

A note on a pink, heart-shaped PostIt, on my computer this morning:

I love you!

Love,

the best kid ever

_________

Scout

Some people love to talk about how kids these days have too much self-esteem.

But the parents I know have a real hard time seeing that as a problem.

Every night I go to sleep and I hope, churn, and mill-over all the things I might do to “strap” my daughter with this “horrible” problem. 🙂 Its like having too much money, too much food, or too much love. Scout is an amazing citizen (tho beware, when she rebels you may find yourself with an unbearable republican for a few years); the product of 2 people who actively work at being great parents. I know you will reap the rewards long into old age. That’s one great kid you have.
