Business-owner Pat Gillespie once sat, lost in thought, at Hooples Tavern in Cleveland’s flats. “Money,” I heard him say, mostly to himself, “I love that stuff.”
Early in the ownership of my business, cashflow was slow. Around mile-three of a run, my grinding worry met my endorphin-eased inhibitions and I reared up at the sky and yelled at the top of my lungs, “Give! Me! Money!” (Only afterwards noticing there was a bicyclist about 10 feet behind me.)
Well despite all our professional passions and our larger purposes, that is what we’re doing here at work.
It’s Monday. Let’s do it.
