I like to think it’s not an editorial coincidence that on The New York Times website, my two favorite sections are positioned side by side. Sports, and Death. Reminds me of the hopping open-air bar I used to drink at when I was younger. Across the street was a funeral home, whose owner would sit on a bench outside, gazing across at we young merrymakers. Whatever he was thinking went without saying.
