- It's the most productive form of procrastination I know.
- It feels like sharpening my knives for a day of chopping.
- Same reason I do sit-ups: to work on my core.
- "Am a writer," my writer mother wrote. "Get to call myself a writer because I write."
- To keep you off the street.
- My writing buddy and the PSA's resident writing coach Mike Long tells our seminar participants that there is no such thing as "writer's block." Writers who are "blocked" are simply writers who are having a hard time facing the disappointment that what they are about to put down on the page will be inevitably different (and less perfect) than the thing they have been fondling in their head. I agree with this point exactly. And I add only that the more frequently a writer faces that disappointment, the less painful it is to face. And, the more a writer sees the compensation: During the writing, wonders emerge—new ideas, that come out of the fingers.
- These boots won't write themselves.
