I have a friend who relentlessly describes his loathing of President Trump, years after the rest of us have wearied of it. He doesn't weary of it, because he has friends who love Trump and he likes to bug them. And they like to bug him back—like the guy who posted this on his page the other day:
While in Indy this evening I sat next to a guy and his daughter in the yard house [bar] in downtown Indy who where from Southern California. He has had his own business there for 20 years and now leaving for Florida. His reasons for leaving would boggle your Trump hating mind. Everything else he told me about illegals, drug trafficking, the opioid problem, left media not reporting any of this, etc would also boggle your Trump hating mind. You may hate Trump as a human being but I have to ask you to pull your head out of your ass and understand what he is really doing for our country and for freedom. And for god’s sakes quit watching MSNBC and the Clinton News Network.
I include this only in order to urge you to make damned sure you don't sound like this guy when making your own arguments, whatever your own arguments are. Write your them down, analyze the transcript. Have you given evidence, new information or persuasion? Or just more of your dirty bathwater.
Strunk and White advised, "When you say something, make sure you have said it. The chances of your having said it are only fair."
I'd add, when you think you've said something, make sure you have said something that could possibly change someone's mind.
