Writing Boots

On communication, professional and otherwise.

In conversation with a would-be speechwriter

02.04.2019 by David Murray // Leave a Comment

She's been a journalist at a big magazine, and now she wants to be a speechwriter.

She was asking me how many speech clips she needed to build up in order to get business.

I told her the best thing to do would be to have one high-profile speech or client that she could point to, and then people would stop asking her for clips.

"And then will I never have to look for clients again?"

I'm still chuckling at that.
