In response to PR prof Bill Sledzik's recent "Reflection on an Election—and a PR Ethics Failure," I was forced to separate my personal reaction to the manner in which the presidential election was fought, and my professional one: "As an American citizen and a father, I hate the way the rules of public discourse are changing. As a feller who makes his living helping speechwriters and other communicators understand the rules of public discourse, I mind that the rules seem to be going away entirely."
